Moonlight Over Mears Park

This nighttime study captures the quiet atmosphere of Mears Park in downtown Saint Paul. A bright moon positioned directly overhead casts dramatic shadows across the wet pavement, turning the park’s benches and trees into long graphic shapes stretching across the walkway.

The glowing building in the distance contrasts with the cool darkness of the park, creating a sense of depth and stillness that defines the late-night city.

Built through layered acrylic applications and refined with professional colored pencil, the surface allows both soft atmospheric transitions and crisp architectural detail. The result is a study of light, shadow, and the calm moments when a familiar city space becomes unexpectedly cinematic.
